Even if you're not superstitious, we bet you've "kept
your fingers crossed" or picked up a heads-up penny. And with St.
Patrick's Day around the corner, we wondered if and how the luck of the
Irish translates into other cultures.
Wishbone
Who hasn't snapped a wishbone after Thanksgiving dinner? Get the longer end and you get your wish. Owner Joel Nickson says he picked the name hoping for a "lucky break" when he opened the restaurant. Seems to have worked-he's been serving up his Southern reconstruction food for 15 years now. Get your own lucky break-the restaurant recently started handing out plastic wishbones as a parting gift and Nickson says they snap like the real deal. Keep the poultry theme going with the roasted red pepper sauce-topped grilled "yardbird" ($7.95-$8.95) or the smothered chicken, a gravy-drenched, slow-braised clucker ($7.95-$8.95). There's also a location on Washington Blvd.
